Dr Spiro is proud to have joined the Brightwell Health team, with new Clinic and Surgical availability in Newcastle, Taree and Forster. Dr Spiro has also increased her scope of public practice, now operating at John Hunter Public Hospital and Maitland Public Hospital

Upper Gastro-intestinal & General Surgery

Dr Calista Spiro is a qualified trauma, general and upper gastrointestinal surgeon. She has spent her formative general surgical training in NSW and the ACT before completing her fellowship at Austin Health in Victoria in an industry sponsored fellowship in bariatric surgery (Johnson & Johnson).

Dr Spiro has an interest in upper gastrointestinal and trauma surgery research and has published articles in international and local surgical journals. She has a Masters of Surgery from the University of Sydney in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. She is a motivated teacher and dedicated to supporting female physicians and surgeons.
